An entry from The New Garden Encylopedia, copyright 1936 through 1946, gives recommendations for using arsenical poisons in your garden:

In those days it was easier for a wife to eliminate an undesirable husband and make it look like an accident.
Not to mention inadvertently killing yourself along with the critters out there …
