This doodle just emerged from the heap:

It gives the envelope dimensions for the two PCBs in the quasi-extruded GPS interface case:

The overall idea was to subtract the envelopes from the interior of the solid case and print the shell:

Surprisingly, after minimal cleanout, the PCBs pretty much just slid into place and the setscrews locked them down.
Now I can throw out that scrap of paper…
The OpenSCAD source has the gory details; the actual dimensions don’t quite match the doodle, but that’s in the nature of fine tuning.
My thoughts on junk mail (like magazine billing scammers, etc) and scrap papers:
Devise a “log roller” that rolls up papers very tightly like a log and it could also
squirt/spray in a small amount of unwanted used cooking oil or grease to help
the combustion process. Use these “logs” in the woodburning boiler or similar
style heater. Most USPS stuff is junk mail and it’s easy to get (impossible to
NOT get!) so just sign up for more. The USPS becomes our heating fuel delivery
service and the junk advertising mail becomes our fuel :D
Of course, I advocate using catalytic converters on the flue gasses, it releases
even more heat into the home and keeps the air CLEAN.
Prolly just another neat idea I’ll never use but at least your minions might adapt it, Ed!
We used to get a bale of that stuff every week, but these days it’s dropped off to nearly nothing. Getting on the Direct Marketing Association’s do-not-mail list definitely helps.
Alas, the USPS depends on junk mail for a large part of its revenue, because nobody sends First Class mail any more…
You probably meant to attach your comment to that post over there…
Well, 2 posts of yours regarding scrap papers and junk mail it could go either place!
Nice work on the CNC tho, once sonny boy gets back from making his fortune in
the oil fields we want to set up a shop. You are part of my initial “training” :-D
Tough way to make it, but there’s plenty of money floating around out there these days…
Thanks for the good words; I’m glad to hear this stuff comes in handy!
