Dances With Disease

So then this happened:

Positive COVID test
Positive COVID test

This being my first round in this particular rodeo, I’m unlikely to be doing anything useful for a week or two.

Paxlovid incoming …

Oh jeez . . . that is a pile of suck. I hope you feel better soon.

My son and I have both dodged that bullet, despite living companions having it several times. We think it might be related to our allergies and the hyperactive immune system they represent.

I’ll definitely be in line for the boosters.

We were early adopters, getting it in March, 2020. One and done for both of us; natural immunity for the win. (About 10 days for each of us. Not bad enough for the likely- disastrous medical interventions in play at the time.)

FWIW, Guaifenesin (Generic Mucinex without additives) helped a lot.

Rumor has it that the current version V??? is a lot milder than the V1.0. Still, it sucks.

    Get well!

Checking in. How are you coping?

    Well, I hope.

I made the decision to get 5 vaccines all at once a week ago last Friday and I am still feeling the effects of that. My doctor said, in a very pithy manner, “I would not have recommended that.” But I head to a trade show in a week and wanted to be protected.

So far, so good, apart from an hour of downtime in the afternoon, ten hours in the sack overnight, and what might be terminal snots every now and again. It could be much worse.

Five at once? Hope it makes you stronger, because the alternative could get ugly.

My late brother in law got pneumonia and a COVID shot together. The results were beyond unfortunate, in that two months later, he got the pneumonia that killed him. [wince]

Since the last set of statistics for the flu shot indicated zero to negative effectiveness, I’ve decided that any future vaccines will be for tetanus; I think that’s now bundled as the DPT combination. (Sigh, unless that’s typhus.) Living in the back of beyond does reduce my exposure to the creeping crud, so that helps.

Mine was bundled as TDaP – Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis. I guess that technically makes it 7 vaccines…

Really glad to hear that. I’ve had CoVID twice and I generally feel not completely well for about 6 weeks. Usually (sample size of 2, obvs.) it’s just a persistent cough after the 2nd week for me. I’ve been vaccinated from the earliest availability. I remember the freedom I felt after the second dose. The first time I had it, I shook hands with my boss’ boss who had went to a concert the night before. The second time I returned from a cruise and came down with it on the drive home. Mea Culpa but I like my vacations.

Get lots of rest, drink lots of fluids, yada, yada. Take care.
